The Fifty-Two Engineering Promise

Fifty-Two Engineering can provide you with the highest level of quality HVAC products for your business. We provide our clients with full design solutions including: Engineering, mechanical drawings, construction management, ISO9001 quality system, installation & servicing.

From office buildings, medical centres, retail centres, manufacturing facilities, churches, schools, substations, laboratories and specialised designs solutions, Fifty-Two Engineering can meet all your HVAC requirements.

Fifty-Two Engineering are able to issue COC’s for air-conditioning installations (which is a legal requirement in RSA). Our employees are qualified tradesmen and have refrigeration handling licences which are renewed every three years.

Service Areas

Dust Collectors

Dust collectors are a type of air pollution control equipment which can be used in factories, plants, warehouses and other industrial or commercial environments. Dust Collection systems are designed to control, reduce, and remove particulate matter, fumes and gases from a manufacturing process or the air during production and manufacturing.

Fan Filter Units

Fan filter units are stand alone mechanical unit consisting of a fan which draws air through a filtration system providing clean air into a room.

Pressurisation Units

Pressurisation units are standalone mechanical units consisting of a fan which draws air through a filtration system providing clean air into a room. The air pushed into the room causes a positive pressure that stops the ingress of dust into the space.

Ventilation Systems

Ventilation is a mechanical system that consists of a fresh air supply and an exhaust system that brings in fresh air into a room or space and removes the contaminated air in a workspace. It is commonly used to remove contaminants such as fumes, dust and vapours.

Evaporative Cooling

Evaporative coolers are a type of air-conditioning unit that cools air through the evaporation of water. Evaporative coolers use a fan to force air over a water saturated pad, causing the water to evaporate into it. This method uses much less energy than refrigeration and works well in dry climates.

HVAC Ducting

Ducting is the part of the HVAC system that distributes the air throughout the building. There are a few different types of air ducts that can be used depending on the application

Sheet metal ducts are usually made from galvanised sheet steel or stainless steel and can be either rectangular or cylindrical. They are rigid and durable and most often used in ventilation or air-conditioning and other low static pressure applications

Mild Steel welded ducting is a low leakage heavy duty type of ducting mainly used for dust collection and kitchen extraction systems where the ducting can experience high static pressures or low leakage is required. The ducting can be painted, or hot dip galvanised.

Humidification & De-humidification

Humidifying the air is such an important requirement in many processes. Typical installations would include:

  • Humidors to prevent expensive cigars from drying out and becoming brittle
  • Cement curing laboratories
  •  Substations in areas where there could be flammable dust, to prevent static electrical sparks
  • The printing industry to prevent paper shrinkage
  • Tobacco industry
  • The chicken hatchery industry

De-humidifying air can either be done by a cooling coil or silica gel wheel. Typical installations would include:

  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • Tyre manufacturing
  •  Close control humidity in labs.

Air Conditioning Systems

There are different types of air-conditioners that we supply that are each designed for a different space/reason. These types of AC units that we supply – mid-wall splits, under ceiling splits, cassettes, ductless and ducted units. Thanks to new technology and the innovations incorporated into newer air conditioners, you’ll see savings almost immediately by using the inverter type units.

Refrigeration Units

A typical refrigeration system is composed of four basic components: compressor, condenser, expansion device and evaporator…. The condenser is a heat exchanger that operates at high pressure and in a temperature that is higher than the temperature of the environment where the system is located. We specialize in walk-in fridges, cold rooms and under counter fridges for the commercial sector.

Service and maintenance

Service and maintenance of new and existing equipment in any of the above areas of expertise.
